Trust in the LORD with all your heart

How can I find peace?

"Quit quarrelling with God. Agree with Him and you will have peace at last. His favor will surround you if you will only admit that you were wrong." Job 22:21

Peace is making things right with God.

"So now, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith in His promises, we can have real peace with Him because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us." Romans 5:1

Peace is a gift from God.

"I am leaving you with a gift peace of mind and heart! And the peace I give isn't fragile like the peace the world gives. So don't be troubled or afraid." John 14:27

Peace results from obeying God's law.

"Great peace have they who love Your law, and nothing can make them stumble." Psalm 119:165

Peace is a worthwhile objective.

"Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification." Romans 14:19

Peace is security.

"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: 'May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels." Psalm 122:6-7

Once I find peace, how do I keep it?

"He will keep in perfect peace all those who trust in Him, whose thoughts turn often to the Lord! Trust in the Lord God always, for in the Lord Jehovah is your everlasting strength." Isaiah 26:3-4

Happiness comes from working for peaceful relationships.

"Happy are those who strive for peace they shall be called sons of God." Matthew 5:9

Jesus on Peace

“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.  If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also.  And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.  Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’  But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. (Matthew 5:38-45)

Jesus' Greeting: Shalom

On the morning of the Resurrection Christ greeted those gathered in the upper-room with a double Shalom, Shalom (peace be unto you - KJV), giving a whole new meaning to that word. The Hebrew word "shalom" conveys what God planned for the creation. Shalom means that people are in a good relationship with God, with themselves and their bodies, with their neighbors (all other people), and with the earth. For people to be in shalom means that their life is balanced and that they relate to the whole of what surrounds them with a peaceful spirit. Humans were the most special part of God's creation. However, in Old Testament days there was a lot of bloodshed, mind-numbing atrocities, rape and war after war. There are also many beautiful images and visions of peace in the Old Testament. The most well-known may be a description of the peaceable kingdom in Isaiah 11, with lines that include, "The wolf shall live with the lamb" (verse 6).6,7

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.  (Psalm 23:1-3)

Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. (Psalm 34:14)

But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. (Psalm 37:11)

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD,  And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the LORD upholds him with His hand.  (Psalm 37:23-24)

Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace. (Psalm 37:37)

My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands; For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you. (Proverbs 3:1-2)

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven ... A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. (Ecclesiastes 3:1,8)

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined ... For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. (Isaiah 9:2,6,7)

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. (Isaiah 11:6-9)

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)

“ For you shall go out with joy, And be led out with peace; The mountains and the hills Shall break forth into singing before you,  And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.  (Isaiah 55:12)

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. (Matthew 5:9)

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. (Romans 8:6)

I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.--Psalm 4:8

The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace. --Psalm 29:11

Great peace have those who love Your law, And nothing causes them to stumble.--Psalm 119:165

You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. --Isaiah 26:3

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: --Romans 5:1
